Auburn & Placerville

If you’re looking to kill some time the morning of the wedding, we recommend visiting Placerville’s historic Hangtown. There are lots of cute boutiques, cafés, antique shops, and galleries to wile away a few hours.

Tahoe

Scenic Lake Tahoe is an hour and a half east of the venue. Sam’s favorite thing to do in Tahoe is head to a sandy beach, rent a stand-up paddle board or kayak and enjoy the blue waters. Sugar Pine Point State Park is normally a good place to check out for beach access.

Sacramento

Sacramento is one of California’s gems hiding in plain sight. For those with kiddos, we recommend going to the Sacramento Railroad Museum! This was one of Sam’s favorite childhood field trips.

Downtown Sac is also home to a vibrant nightlife scene and excellent food. Check on mainstays like the Dive Bar, Cafeteria 15L, and the Jungle Bird.

San Francisco

October is the best month to visit San Francisco as it’s less foggy this time of year. Andrew’s favorite museum is the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park and while you’re there, rent a bike and cycle down to visit the bison that live on the west side of the park. If you want to get out for a walk, Sam recommends heading to the Presidio to check out Fort Mason and then taking the trail up to the start of the Golden Gate Bridge.
